My role: UX Lead

I focussed on user flows, interaction design, wire framing, and defining the game rules with colleagues. Worked closely with project managers, medical and copywriters, and developers

Design goal

We did a competitive analysis of different games. Used surveys to find out what types of games users enjoyed playing.

We collaborated with internal teams to explore how our content could be adapted into a game format. We concluded that questions type games would work for the content. Trivia based games were also preferred by users.

Strategy

Understanding the overall flow and rounds though sketches.

Defining the rules of the game

The game offered 6 different bundles to choose from and included 3 rounds per packet, each requiring a different level of user engagement.

How do we make the game engaging and keep users playing?

  • To keep users engaged and competitive, we included both mainstream and scientific trivia questions

  • We created 3 different formats for each round, to reduce repetitiveness

  • A video host introduces the rules for each round, as well reinforce their achievements at the end of the round

  • All rounds use a timer. The first is about getting as many points as possible in the allotted time

  • Round Two fades incorrect answers as the timer goes down, reducing the points value as more options are removed

  • Round Three ends as soon as the user answers one question incorrectly. The user is “Knocked Out” and the round is over

  • After all three rounds are finished, the user can add their name to a leaderboard if they score high enough

High fidelity wireframes

Created the wireframes by utilizing sketches, the defined game rules, and requirements documentation.

Visual design

Our team created a playful design in a quirky game show theme.
